Our vestry is an elected leadership team of church members who provide direction and accountability for our resources. The vestry is comprised of three classes of two members each, who serve three-year terms. (See the full vestry here.) At our annual business meeting on Wednesday, June 21, church members voted to approve a new class of two vestry members. If you are a member who was unable to attend, you can reach out to Anne Kessler, Senior Director of Operations, at annekessler@churchrez.org.

Vestry Candidates

Brian Kelly

My wife, Lauren, and I live in Wheaton with our two kids, Desmond and Adelaide. I am a teacher at Wheaton Academy where I teach English, French, and Bible. I love to golf, play hockey, and visit my family out on the Jersey Shore. Lauren and I have attended Church of the Rez since 2012. I was baptized here in 2015 on Easter. I have been able to serve at Rez over the past ten years, whether through Eucharist ministry, children’s ministry, or even parking team. I love working with kids and I have been able to help with elementary Midweek and as a shepherd on Sunday mornings with the 2- and 3-year-olds.

Paul Smith

I was recently asked, “how long have you attended Rez?” and, as I thought for a moment, I could not believe that it has been seven years already! When we moved to the area from out of state, we decided to jump right in and have considered Rez our home since that first Sunday. My wife, Jenn, and I have four kids: a sophomore daughter at Wheaton North, a 7th grade son at Franklin Middle School, a 1st grade daughter at Lowell Elementary and a 4 year-old son who is still home with Jenn. In my free time, I coach my son, Henry’s, baseball team and enjoy cooking and golfing. At Rez this past fall, I joined the Welcome Team and am usually greeting at the 8:30 service along with my son, Henry. Professionally, I have worked for ADP for the last 17 years (a corporate relocation brought us to the Chicago area), and I currently manage a retirement sales team across the Midwest.

Junior Warden

The Junior Warden serves in a leadership position for the Vestry under the Senior Warden. The wardens run monthly Vestry meetings. They also serve on the Executive Committee, along with the Bishop and Dean. The Executive Committee sets agendas for the Vestry and the wardens provide additional counsel and accountability for the Dean in Executive Committee meetings. Wardens are selected by the Dean and serve one-year terms that can be renewed. Although the congregation does not vote on the warden positions, feedback is still a valued part of the process. No Vestry member can serve more than five consecutive years.

Amy Patton

We have been blessed by Amy Patton's many leadership gifts on staff at Resurrection over the years. Amy laid the foundations for RezKids as our former Children’s Pastor more than a decade ago. She has also served as former Executive Pastor of Staff and Executive Director of Gregory House, the diocesan training school for future leaders.

You can email any feedback about our vestry candidates or the junior warden to our vestry (excluding staff members) at rezvestrymembers@gmail.com or to Cathedral Dean Steve Williamson at stevewilliamson@churchrez.org
