Hands of praise

By Lisa La Shell

Thinking about Roman’s 12:12 and what it means to have hope and pray during tribulation I was reminded of Peter being called out on the water. My faith isn’t always up for the waves that come and sometimes Jesus’ hand takes longer to grab me than I would like. Yet even if not, if I sink in the storm, if the fig tree is empty or God does not save from the furnace; even if not I can rejoice in hope and lift hands in prayer. Cries of prayer and praise in the midst of the hard are acts of worship offered up like incense. This is why the life of Christ is seen most clearly in tribulation, the pouring out of the treasure in the cracks in jars of clay.
