Dear Resurrection Family,
This past Sunday I preached from Isaiah chapter 43, how the living God meets us in our suffering. That passage contains many great promises, like “Fear not, for I have redeemed you” and “When you pass through the waters I will be with you.”
The very next day I unexpectedly began a new story of suffering in my own life: I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. I realize that this news may come as a shock. Based on the initial test, the doctor told me it’s in the early stages, but of course more tests are needed to determine my prognosis. The appointments start this week, so I will have another update in the near future.
I love this church deeply. I am confident that we can walk with each other through our mutual seasons of suffering. I would deeply appreciate your prayers for my children and my grandchildren, and for my healing and trust in the Lord.
Please see Pastor Meghan’s note below.
Warmly in Christ,
Fr. Matt Woodley
Cathedral Vicar
