Update on the Rector Search Process

Senior Warden Amy Patton recently gave an update to our congregation on the rector search process. She outlined progress thus far and the Search Committee’s next steps. Here’s a summary:

Looking back: Since Father Steve stepped down as rector/dean last June, Fr. Matt’s leadership as interim dean was established, and the Vestry formed a Search Committee (SC) in December. Key milestones include a congregational survey (60% adult participation) and 12 discussion groups with more than 140 participants. Prayer has been central throughout the process.

The Search Committee has now released a comprehensive 32-page Parish Profile that reflects Rez’s identity—our values, history, current ministries, and areas for growth—based on community feedback. This profile is designed to give potential candidates a clear picture of the church as a community to love and lead.

The Rector Profile, included at the end of the Parish Profile, was developed through prayerful discernment. It identifies the key qualities sought in our next rector: a biblically grounded follower of Jesus who is a strong, unifying leader. The top priorities include being an apostolic leader, vision-caster, teacher/preacher, pastoral shepherd, evangelist, team builder, worship leader, and culturally courageous.

Next Steps: The application process is now open. It will be followed by interviews, a recommendation to the vestry, a vestry vote, and approval by Bishop Stewart. We encourage you to read the full Parish Profile here. Please continue to pray for the Search Committee’s ongoing work and for the Lord to send us the right leader for Resurrection.
