FAQs
The lectionary is a Bible reading plan, laid out in a guide called the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). There are two reading plans that we follow: one which outlines readings for Sundays and other special days (Sunday, Holy Day, and Commemoration Lectionary), and another which sets out readings during the week, to pray both morning and evening (The Daily Lectionary).
Not always. The Book of Common Prayer makes allowances for changes in order to preach a sermon series, which may deviate from that year’s plan.
The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) is the Bible arranged for worship. It contains Bible reading plans (lectionaries), guides for worship services, devotionals, and written prayers for every occasion. Every service that you experience at Resurrection, from Sunday morning to Christmas Eve to Good Friday, can be found within.
The latest edition of the BCP, produced by the Anglican Church of North America, can be viewed or purchased below.
