The Fullness of Time
oil on paper
Faced with the task to create a piece for the word “Love,” I quickly realized this single word brings both an endless stream of images, and yet draws a blank. And I found myself saying “Christ himself is the only image that fully encapsulates all that love is. Simply nothing else will do.”
Here we have an image of Christ running with eager love to his long lost children, Adam and Eve in exile. I wanted to focus, not on our preparation for Christ’s coming at Advent, but on His delight to come to us. This is an image of what God must’ve felt the weeks leading up to Christmas! Waiting eagerly for the fullness of time, when He would come to earth to be near His beloved creation and lead us home. He is indeed in our midst, a mighty one who will save (Zeph. 3:17). In Christ, steadfast love and faithfulness have met (Psalm 85:10). Our Lord has spotted us in the distance! He runs, without hesitation, to embrace us (Luke 15:20).
1 John 4:10 sums it all up well saying “In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that He loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation of our sins.”

Advent/Christmas Exhibit
Each week of Advent a new visual artist and poet was featured in our RezArts Gallery. These original pieces invite you into the anticipation of Christ’s coming through a representation of each week’s theme: hope, peace, love, and joy. This series culminated in a fifth display celebrating Christmas. Visit the Advent Exhibit in RezCafe, on display until January 12.
