Almighty God, by your Word you laid the foundations of the earth and you set the boundaries of the sea. You still the wind and the waves.
We pray for those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Help those who are experiencing incredible losses and suffering.
We’re reminded, Lord, that rich and poor alike are fragile and vulnerable. Our lives are like a flower of the field which is here today and gone tomorrow. So, we need your presence and your power, Lord Jesus.
Lord, we now ask for your help and grace, especially for the people of our own nation who are suffering greatly. We pray for your power and promises to fall upon them. We pray for firefighters who are working to rescue people and property from harm and to put out these fires. We pray for government leaders who are seeking to rebuild communities. We pray, God, for the Church, for pastors and for the people of God who are on the ground providing for people’s physical and spiritual needs. Strengthen the churches in this part of our country, Lord.
We live in the hope of your new creation through Jesus Christ our Lord.
