Every Advent season, Resurrection gives time and resources to a local ministry partner. This year, we are serving pregnant mothers and families in need via our Baby Bank, located in the Rez warehouse. We also seek to share diapers and baby supplies with long-time ministry partner Pastor Michael Wright in Chicago.

At the Rez Baby Bank, the number of clients has more than doubled since its inception during the pandemic in 2020. Up to 30 families are supplied with diapers, wipes, and baby formula every two weeks. Though the pandemic is waning, the demand is not. We are not able to provide parents with enough supplies to sustain them until the next distribution. In Chicago, the needs are even more acute.

Growth & Multi-Church Partnerships

In order to provide relief to families in our community during COVID, Resurrection partnered with Caring Network to open a Baby Bank in summer 2020. Led by the Sanctity of Life Team and a handful of dedicated volunteers, the Baby Bank has grown from a small, temporary row of tables in the Rez warehouse to a permanent, cozy shop complete with baby supplies, clothing, and toys. Many women who come for supplies also share their life stories with our volunteers and receive encouragement and prayer.

Today multiple churches in DuPage County contribute supplies to our Baby Bank. Warehouse shelves overflowing with boxes of diapers and supplies speak to how the Body of Christ is taking action to support the sanctity of life.

The baby bank is now a cozy space for mothers to come and receive support.

Since 2020, Resurrection has also partnered with Pastor Michael Wright in Austin, Chicago, to help support expectant mothers and families. Rez members have donated supplies and participated in several diaper drives alongside Pastor Michael and his congregation. Pastor Michael recently transitioned to True Freedom Church in Oak Park where he carries the same vision for serving his community.

"My favorite thing is the joy of loving and walking alongside families who come to our Baby Bank on this tiny slice of their life’s journey. I’ve watched a nervous and afraid newly-pregnant woman turn into a caring and devoted first-time mom. I’ve listened to stories of women who are navigating work, children, and sometimes education without the support of a spouse or the child’s father. I witness the joy that children can bring —even an unplanned child, and even when support has fallen through.

"Many families have told me that we are filling a need that is not being filled elsewhere. I’m so proud of Resurrection for her devotion to Baby Bank!"
