Peace
Oil on paper
The second week of Advent centers on God’s peace amidst a dark and turbulent world. In our lives, peace is often overshadowed by turmoil and darkness. Yet within our own wildernesses is the Trinitarian God, who both is Peace and also desires that we have his peace .
True peace flows freely from the purest of sources – Jesus. It connects us to him and to others, bringing us out of relational exile. It intermingles with our broken reality; our sorrow, anxiety, and tears. And it restores us. It allows for true flourishing in a world at war with itself, and it vanquishes our own inner conflicts. It allows us to rest in the Lord’s promises and to abide in him with tranquil faith, trusting that he will lead us in the way of his peace.
Julia Damion has been at Rez for eight years. Originally from Maine, she enjoys time in nature, creating art and music, making puns, and spending time with her pup, Homer.
Advent Exhibit
Each week of Advent a new visual artist and poet is featured in our RezArts Gallery. These original pieces invite you into the anticipation of Christ’s coming through a representation of each week’s theme: hope, peace, love, and joy. This series will culminate in a fifth display celebrating Christmas. Visit the Advent Exhibit in RezCafe, on display until January 12.
