‘Pre-Nativity’ was created during a live performance with Dawn Bishop at the Wheaton Public Library on December 20th 2021. Dawn played festive music, and I was moved to depict, albeit abstractly, a nativity scene of sorts, with Joseph, Mary and shepherds. I have always felt unworthy to paint our Saviour, even in graffiti form. But I am an emotive painter of music and space. And the Spirit led me along, as usual. The painting wanted to be what it is; a nativity scene painted in a contemporary style by an artist and a sinner trying to walk with The Lord every day.
Working with the amazing gift-wielding musician, Dawn Bishop, has been an honor. I hope we get to glorify The Lord in more public ways in the years to come.
