Patience

By Olivia Walker

I came up with this poem while I was looking for something loosely associated with Romans 12:12.  The phrase “be patient in tribulation” inspired me to write a poem about patience. Single quatrains are my strongpoint, so I wrote a quatrain using my favorite rhyme scheme: AABB.  I wanted a simple, straightforward poem. I knew I needed to write about what made patience a virtue. I also knew that I needed to show the importance of waiting patiently for Jesus’ second coming.

Patience
Patience is a virtue, not to be surpassed
For those who possess it cannot be harassed.
Patience is desirable, for worthwhile is the cost
To wait for Him to come who will return the lost.
