Blessing and Sending the Millers to Church of the Savior

Beloved Resurrection,

As you know, our dear friends and ministry partners Fr. Kevin and Deacon Karen Miller have been in discernment with Church of the Savior regarding their future leadership.

I recently announced that Kevin has accepted Church of the Savior’s offer to become their rector. I am excited for Kevin and Karen to begin this next phase of their journey as they lead and pastor Church of the Savior together.

I asked Kevin and Karen to share more about their process below:

Kevin and Karen: In these legacy years of our lives, we have consistently felt that God was calling us to preach and to pastor as a team. Thanks to prayers and conversations with Bishop Stewart, Mama Katherine, and many members of Resurrection, we now know where that next season will be.

We feel sad at the thought of leaving Resurrection—we’ve spent virtually our entire adult lives here—but we feel glad to be staying nearby, where we can still see all of you at the Revive Conference, at the store, or around town. (Plus, we get to stay near our daughter, Anne, and Karen’s sister, Anne Kessler, who will both be staying at Resurrection.)

We will start to attend Savior in October, so we can learn the ropes from their pastors, Bill and Linda Richardson. Kevin will officially become a Savior employee on January 1. Karen will serve alongside him as a non-stipendiary pastor, while she continues to serve people as a leadership coach and consultant with Strengthen Your Leadership.

We look forward to various ways we can partner with Resurrection and with Bishop Stewart for the planting and strengthening of churches across the ACNA.

I am so grateful to Kevin and Karen for their incredible legacy of leadership at Resurrection, and I look forward to continued friendship and partnership with both of them as they step forward in leadership at Savior.

As a congregation, we will all have the opportunity to bless and send out the Millers together on Sunday, September 25, which will be their last Sunday at Resurrection. Make sure you save the date!

With love,

Bishop Stewart
