We are thrilled to announce the newest member of our Resurrection Staff team. Please join us in welcoming Dawn Jewell, who has joined our team as the Communications Director. Dawn will oversee communications for Resurrection and the Diocese of the Upper Midwest. She will make a great addition to our staff as an experienced wordsmith and communications leader.
Dawn and her husband Matt are long-time Rez members with a heart for local and global ministry. You can welcome them Sunday at Resurrection when we introduce Dawn during our services. In the meantime, please read more of the Jewells’ story below.
Once upon a time in Wheaton, 20 years ago, I moved here from Seattle to work in communications for World Relief headquarters. I landed a room to rent in a little red house with two sweet roommates, from whom I first heard about Resurrection. They also introduced me to Matt, a Rez member.
Matt and I share a love for other cultures and both graduated from Wheaton’s Masters of Intercultural Studies program. We married in 2003 and have raised our son, 13, and daughter, 8, surrounded by loving community at Rez. A former elementary teacher, Matt is developing curriculum now in Downers Grove school district.
Our faith has deepened at Rez through leading and participating in multiple small groups, missions team, trips to Thailand and Cambodia, Transformation Intensive, eucharist ministry, welcome teams, and more.
I am passionate about telling God’s stories of transformation in the church and equipping others. Previously I served for 16 years at MAI, a ministry that equips Christian writers and publishing staff around the world. Last summer I felt the Lord nudging me to apply at Rez and leading me here. Serving my church family is a great privilege and wonderful new adventure. I’m thrilled to serve alongside an amazing team and to help share the stories of the Lord at work in our midst.
