Born into a missionary family in southern Spain, faith was a major part of my daily life from the start. The gift of a solid foundation is one I do not take for granted. Family devotions at mealtime with special coloring pages for us kids, a life verse my parents prayed over me, and a deep church community were hugely impactful for me. However, as I grew older and encountered brokenness in the church and the complexity of my multicultural upbringing, I began to feel the weight of spiritual dissonance and doubt. During that season of confusion, my parents gave me a rare gift: the freedom to interrogate my beliefs without fear, trusting that God was big enough to handle my hardest questions. I came through it with ownership in my faith and a deep conviction of the love and forgiveness I have in Christ. I then made the decision to be baptized. Today, my husband and I find great joy at Church of the Resurrection, where we are nourished by the liturgy, the preaching, and the community of our small group.
As a Wheaton College graduate with a background in Elementary Education, I spent years helping students find their “aha” moments in the classroom. Now, I am in a season of motherhood with two toddlers, freelancing and exploring the wonders of nature and the beauty in the little things with them. As the RezKids Midweek Director, I am thrilled to get to know your children and to work to deepen your child’s understanding of God and their sense of community in His Church.
When I’m not working or exploring outdoors with the kids, you can find me cozying up with a book, playing board games with friends or dabbling in a new artistic hobby like cake decorating, embroidery, or crochet. In this chapter, I am grateful to be developing my own “’childlike faith” right alongside my children and yours!
