Mark Meyers

I was born in Trenton, New Jersey, and raised in a little town across the Delaware river from Philadelphia. My earliest memories include mornings with my family around the breakfast table, reading the Bible, and learning to pray together. These early years were saturated with the big story of Scripture and an ever-present, increasing awareness of Jesus and his love for me. As I grew, I spent more time in our local church and its youth ministry, growing in the knowledge and love of God, learning how to lead worship in our youth group, and discovering an early sense of calling to a life of service in the Church.

Years later, I moved to Chicago to study Bible and Theology at Wheaton College, where I would meet Charlotte, my incredible wife and the tenacious mother of our two kiddos. It was also here in Chicagoland, after a summer studying abroad in Israel, that I found my heart drawn increasingly to the deep wells of the historic Church. When I first attended Church of the Resurrection on Ash Wednesday in 2014, I encountered the gospel-focused, Bible-centered faith of my childhood afresh, this time in the form of a rich, sacramental encounter with Jesus in the power of his Spirit. To me, this experience felt like coming home.

I spent the next seven years or so serving in our diocese, first as a Ministry Resident here at Rez, working with the youth and worship ministries, and then for almost six years in pastoral and worship ministry at City of Light, a plant from Rez in Aurora, IL––leading worship and small groups, preaching, and coordinating our Sunday teams and production. During this time, I slowly chipped away at my Master’s in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. I’m excited to return to Rez to support the worshipping life of the people of God through my role as Production Director. My prayer is that everyone who walks through Rez’s doors on a Sunday morning would encounter Jesus for themselves, and know, like I once did, that they’ve found a home in his Church.
