Fall Vision Recap

Missed our fall Vision Night last Friday? You can still listen to Dean Steve’s vision talk on Romans 12:12 here

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Here’s a recap of our announcements:

Stay up-to-date on the Province’s ongoing investigation:
Email any questions or concerns to provresponseteam@anglicanchurch.netThe Provincial Response Team overseeing the investigative process was fully formed last month. Learn more about each team member, subscribe to receive their email updates, and view past updates on our Diocesan hubpage here

If you’d like to meet with a pastor for any reason at all, please reach out to our Pastoral Care Pastor at meghanrobins@churchrez.org.

As we continue to gain insights on best practices, we’ve learned it’s healthy to offer you multiple avenues of communication. Our vestry members are committed lay leaders nominated by and voted upon by the congregation. You’ll be able to email the vestry without going through staff or church leaders regarding any questions or concerns about anything related to our church, outside of the Province’s investigation. We’ll provide specific details soon.

How we’re making Resurrection a safer place:
Our first priority has been consulting with experts to ensure that staff are well-trained to help prevent and respond to abuse. We’re preparing to implement a new course for volunteers and staff, which includes an emphasis on detecting grooming behavior. It’s part of MinistrySafe, an online safety system that will enable more of our congregation to help protect vulnerable members of our church. Our senior leaders are also currently working through a course on caring effectively for survivors of abuse.

Second, we have been reviewing and enhancing the child and youth protection policies we’ve had in place since 2006 to ensure that they are clear, well-documented, and include current best practices. We also plan to consult with an outside organization to help us develop policies and procedures for responding to abuse allegations other than child abuse.

We’ll continue to provide updates on how we’re learning to better protect and serve the most vulnerable in our midst.

Local outreach opportunities this fall:
We invite you to get involved in local mission in two ways this fall:

1. Join other Rez folks to pray outside of local abortion clinics during the 40 Days for Life prayer vigil thru October 31. It’s a simple and practical way to take a stand for life and ask the Lord to change hearts and minds. Learn more here.

2. We are launching an outreach with World Relief to welcome newly arriving refugees and immigrants from Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Congo, Sudan, Nepal, and elsewhere.
Save these dates:

  • Sunday, October 10, 12-1:30pm
A workshop with two experts: “Refugees and Rez: A biblical response to a global crisis.”
  • Sunday, October 24, 12pm
A special volunteer training for Rez led by World Relief.
