Staff & Vestry Transitions

Dear Resurrection Family,

As we step into summer, I want to provide you with a brief update about a few staff changes, our new vestry members, and the rector search.

Staff Changes
After nine years, Fr. Will Chester is stepping down from his role as Youth Pastor in order to focus on his responsibilities as Executive Pastor. Caleb Karnosh has been promoted to Youth Pastor and will oversee all aspects of our student ministry.

Christina Westberg is now our full-time Children’s Director. She continues to lead our RezKids ministry alongside our Children’s Pastor, Matt Prechter.

Staff Openings
We continue to seek a full-time Production Director and a part-time Middle School Director. Learn more about our open positions here.

New Vestry Members:
Members of Resurrection voted to approve our two new vestry members at the Annual Business Meeting on Wednesday, May 28. Julie Davis (left) and Clare VanderWeele joined our current vestry members: Fr. Matt Woodley, Amy Patton (Sr. Warden), Andrew Merrick (Jr. Warden), Paul Smith, Elise Tomlin, Laura Chelsen, and Brian Kelly.

Our gratitude to outgoing vestry members, Aaron Cox and Ashley Condra, for serving our church with dedication in this season.

Rector Search:
The Rector Search Committee continues to oversee our search for a rector/dean. We are currently accepting applications. Please continue to pray that the Lord will provide the right leader for the next season at Resurrection. You can find information and updates here.

If you missed the annual business meeting last month and have any questions, please reach out to Anne Kessler, Executive Director of Operations.

Once again, I am so grateful and honored to serve as Church of the Resurrection’s Interim Dean and Rector. I have come to love this church with deep affection. I’m excited about the things the Lord has for Rez. May this season of our life together also be a time to “grow up into him who is the head, into Christ.” That way, “when each part is working properly, [this] makes the body grow as it builds itself up in love” (Eph. 4:15-16).

Fr. Matt Woodley
Interim Dean
